Why can’t I see my dimensions in DS|Color?

The Dimensions do not appear in DS|Color because Designers generally use DS|Color to create a visual presentation for a client and do not want the dimensions included in that presentation. If you want the dimensions shown you will need to explode the dimensions, but first we recommend saving the drawing with a new name to preserve the original, then either create or update your presentation.  Below are some instructions to assist with this process

  1. Save the Drawing with a different name:
    • Click File>Save As
  2. Turn on the Dimension Layer, if they are currently not visible:
    • Click on the Layer list
    • Scroll to find Dimension layer
    • Click on the Dimension layer to turn it on
  3. Explode the dimensions:
    • Select the Exploding Objects into Individual Lines and Arcs in the Edit toolbox
    • Select the Dimensions, then right-click to explode them
  4. Click on Color Ready mode
  5. Turn on the Dimension Layer
    • Click on the Layer list
    • Scroll to find Dimension layer
    • Click on the Dimension layer to turn it on
  6. Save the drawing
  7. Start a new presentation in DS|Color using the newly saved drawing
    OR
Open DS|Color and click File> Update Presentation and choose the newly saved Design file
