Activation error when trying to Save as>Adobe PDF (Design and Color)

Issue:  Activation Error: Printer not activated, error code -30 or -41 appears when trying to save as PDF in DS|Design or DS|Color

ActivationError

Description:  An Acivation error window appears after you click File>Save As Adobe PDF

Solution:  In order to fix the Activation Error: Printer not activated, error code -30 or -41 error message when trying to Save As>Adobe PDF, the first step would be to ensure the software is up to date by checking for updates using the below instructions, if there are no updates for both DS|Design and DS|Color, please follow the Reset PDF Writer section.

  • In Windows 10:
    • Click Windows Logo in bottom left corner
    • All Apps
    • Scroll down and click on DynaSCAPE
    • Click on Check for DynaSCAPE Design Updates and follow the prompts
    • Repeat Steps 2-3 but this time click on Check for Updates and follow the prompts
  • In Windows 8.1:
    • Click Windows logo in bottom left corner
    • Scroll down and click on arrow in bottom left
    • Scroll over to DynaSCAPE
    • Click on Check for DynaSCAPE Design Updates and follow the prompts
    • Repeat Steps 2-3 but this time click on Check for Updates and follow the prompts
  • In Windows XP, Vista, 7:
    • Check for updates by going to Start > (All) Programs > DynaSCAPE > Design > Check for DynaSCAPE Design Updates
    • Check for updates by going to Start > (All) Programs > DynaSCAPE > Color > Check for Updates
  • Now try to create a PDF by going to File>Save as>Adobe PDF, if it doesn’t work, please follow the below Reset PDF Writer instructions.

If checking for updates does not fix the issue, then please follow the below instructions.

Reset PDF Writer:

  • In Windows 8.1 and 10:
    • Right-click the Windows Logo button
      • Choose Control Panel>View Devices & Printers
      • Right-click on DynaSCAPE PDF writer
      • Choose Remove Device, if there is no printer go to the next step.
    • Right-click the Windows Logo Button
      • Choose File Explorer
      • Click This PC on the Left
      • Then Browse to C:\Program Files(x86)\DynaSCAPE\Design\PDF Maintenance\
      • Double-click to run the exe (this will restore the PDF writer)
    • Right-click the Windows Logo button
      • Choose Control Panel>View Devices & Printers
      • Right-click on DynaSCAPE PDF writer
      • Choose Printer Properties, go to the General tab and rename it to DynaSCAPE Color PDF writer
        • Click Ok
    • Right-click the Windows Logo Button
      • Choose File Explorer
      • Click This PC on the Left
      • Then Browse to C:\Program Files(x86)\DynaSCAPE\Design\PDF Maintenance\
      • Double-click to run the exe
    • Now try to create a PDF by going to File>Save as>Adobe PDF
  • In Windows XP, Vista & 7:
    • Go to Start>Devices & Printers
      • Right-click on DynaSCAPE PDF writer, choose Remove Device
      • Go to C:\Program Files(x86)\DynaSCAPE\Design\PDF Maintenance\ – if you do not see (x86)that is ok, then look in the Program Files directory
      • Double-click to run the exe (this will restore the PDF writer)
    • Go to Start>Devices & Printers
      • Right-click on DynaSCAPE PDF writer
      • Choose Printer Properties, go to the General tab and rename it to DynaSCAPE Color PDF writer
        • Click Ok
    • Now try to create a PDF by going to File>Save as>Adobe PDF
